Confidential relationship counselling with qualified psychologists at SafeMind Studio on Baner-Balewadi Road, Pune. In-person and online sessions.

SafeMind Studio offers relationship counselling in Baner, Pune for couples and individuals who want professional support with communication, repeated arguments, trust or emotional distance. Our psychologists work in a private, confidential setting, and you can attend in person at our studio or online.
Most relationship problems don’t have one cause or one person to blame. A conversation goes wrong, the same argument returns a week later, and both of you start to feel unheard. Counselling gives you a structured space to slow that down: to say what is going on, listen to your partner’s side, and understand the pattern you are both caught in. You can come as a couple, or on your own if your partner isn’t ready yet.
Relationship counselling is a form of talking therapy where a psychologist works with one or both partners to understand what is happening between them. The psychologist doesn’t take sides or decide who is right. Instead, each person gets space to describe their experience, and together you look at patterns, such as how a disagreement starts, what each of you does when it escalates, and what stays unsaid.
It is not only for married couples. People in dating relationships, engaged couples and long-term partners all seek counselling. It also doesn’t require both of you to be sure about the future of the relationship before you begin. Counselling can’t promise a particular outcome, but it can give you clearer understanding and better tools to decide what you want to do next.
The two terms are often used interchangeably. Couples counselling usually means both partners attend sessions together. Relationship counselling is slightly broader: it can include joint sessions, and it can also include one person attending alone to work through relationship stress, communication habits or a difficult decision. If you are specifically looking for joint sessions, see our couples therapy in Baner page.
You don’t need to be in crisis to start. Counselling may be useful if you recognise any of these:
Counselling is not a diagnosis of either partner. It is a way of understanding how the two of you interact.
Conversations that go in circles, one person withdrawing, or difficulty saying what you need.
Repeated conflicts over the same topics, or small issues that escalate quickly.
Feeling more like housemates than partners, or missing the closeness you once had.
Difficulty rebuilding trust after a breach, or ongoing doubt and insecurity.
Differences around family involvement, money, roles at home, children or future plans.
Marriage, parenthood, relocation, job changes or caring for ageing parents.
Feeling unable to talk openly about closeness and physical or emotional needs.
Noticing that similar difficulties appear across relationships.
Talking through expectations and differences before marriage.

Not every disagreement needs therapy. Every couple argues, and many sort things out on their own. It may be time to speak with a relationship psychologist when:
A first session is a low-pressure way to find out whether counselling suits you. A psychologist at SafeMind Studio can help you understand what is happening and what kind of support makes sense, whether that is joint sessions, individual sessions, or both.
First sessions can feel nervous, especially if one of you wasn’t sure about coming. You don’t need to prepare a speech or decide anything in advance. In the first session, you can expect to:
Sessions usually run for about 45 to 60 minutes. Nothing is decided in the first session, and you are free to say if the fit doesn’t feel right.
This is common. You can begin on your own: individual sessions can help you understand your own patterns, manage the stress of the relationship and think about how to bring up counselling with your partner. Many partners join later once they see it isn’t about blame. If your partner is hesitant, it can help to say that counselling is a place for both of you to be heard.
Every couple is different, so what counselling offers depends on you. In general, it may help you to:
Counselling doesn’t guarantee that a relationship will continue or improve. It can provide a space to understand what is happening, and to make choices with more clarity.
No two sessions look the same, but the work usually moves through these stages. Your psychologist will explain how it works at the start, and you can ask questions at any point.
The psychologist listens to what brought you in and the context around it: how long you have been together, what has changed, and what each of you hopes for. Each person gets the chance to speak.
Sessions may explore recurring patterns, such as how arguments begin, how each of you responds, and what tends to be left unsaid. Seeing the pattern often takes some of the blame out of it.
You and the psychologist agree on what you want to work on. That might be communicating better, rebuilding trust, reducing conflict or deciding on a way forward.
Sessions provide a structured, respectful space to talk through difficult topics and try healthier ways of responding to each other.
Over time, you review what is changing and what isn’t, and adjust the goals if needed. The number of sessions depends on your concerns and goals, and your psychologist will talk this through with you rather than fixing it in advance.
A simple, supportive and structured process, explained to you at the start.
Understand your concerns and goals.
Create a therapy plan that works for you.
Regular support and progress tracking.
Build coping skills and a healthier, happier you.

My journey towards SafeMind has been a process of self-development. As an empath, I have always connected strongly to others and their struggles, caring to help them navigate through their difficulties. Yet, before being able to reach out to others, I needed to learn to listen to myself, set my boundaries, understand and nurture my needs. Only then have I been able to dedicate myself fully to serving others. With over ten years of experience, I have logged hundreds of hours listening to people’s struggles while endeavouring to create a judgement-free space for people to express their deepest fears and darkest thoughts. Over these 10 years, I have worked with children, teens, and adults, addressing various complex issues, including relationship and parent-child problems, ADHD, depression, emotional difficulties, and a sense of feeling stuck in one’s life. Drawing from my vast experience and employing a number of therapeutic approaches, such as CBT, DBT, EFT, NLP, and knowledge of neuroplasticity, I offer my clients a truly integrated approach to solving their problems. I believe that being in therapy should be a comfortable, safe experience, where the client is an active participant in the process rather than being told what to do by the therapist. Today, I am humbled and truly grateful for the ability to help people all around the globe, both locally, at SafeMind in Balewadi-Baner, Pune, and internationally, via online therapy. My mission with SafeMind is to help you return to yourself, to your true self!
Experienced. Compassionate. Here for You.

Relationship counselling is a confidential form of talking therapy in which a psychologist helps partners understand what is happening between them. Sessions focus on communication, recurring conflict, trust and emotional connection, and the psychologist doesn’t take sides. It is open to married, engaged and dating couples, and to individuals who want support with a relationship. It can’t promise a particular outcome.
Consider it when the same arguments keep returning, conversations turn into blame or silence, one or both of you feel unheard, emotional distance is growing, or trust is hard to rebuild. You can also come before a big change such as marriage or a move. You don’t need to wait for a crisis, and not every disagreement needs counselling.
It may help. A psychologist can help you notice how each of you communicates under stress, say what you need more clearly, and listen in a way your partner can take in. Progress depends on your situation and on both partners’ willingness to work on it, so no result can be guaranteed.
Yes. Many people start alone, especially when their partner isn’t ready. Individual sessions can help you understand your own patterns, manage the stress of the relationship and think about how to raise joint counselling later. Your psychologist can advise whether joint sessions would help once you have begun.
Not always. Joint sessions are common, but some plans also include individual sessions. Your psychologist will suggest a format based on your concerns and agree it with you. Attending the early sessions together is often helpful, because each person’s view gets heard in the same room.
You talk about why you are seeking support, share some background about the relationship, and hear how the psychologist works and how confidentiality applies. You discuss what each person hopes for and agree on initial priorities. You can ask questions about the process. Nothing needs to be decided that day.
A session usually lasts about 45 to 60 minutes. The total number of sessions depends on your concerns, your goals and how often you attend, so your psychologist will talk this through with you instead of fixing a number in advance.
Counselling at SafeMind Studio is private and confidential. Confidentiality is subject to professional and legal requirements, such as situations involving a serious risk of harm. Your psychologist can explain this at the start of the first session, including how information shared in joint and individual sessions is handled.

It can provide a space to understand why the same arguments keep returning. A psychologist helps you notice triggers, how each person responds and what sits underneath, then explore other ways of handling disagreement. It may reduce how often or how intensely arguments escalate, though results vary from couple to couple.
